IO Interactive's take on Bond won't retread any of 007's previous outings—nor will atomic number 2 resemble any of the actors who've portrayed the British superspy over the past 60 long time.

In an interview with IGN, IO CEO and co-owner Hakan Abrak explained that the Hitman studio apartment could but ever so have taken the reigns on Bond if it was given complete exemption to make its own personification of 007—unitary that draws along the long history of the case, but is entirely Io's own.

"We've only done our own, original IPs (intellectual property), right? We've created these characters... ourselves, from scratch," Abrak said. "We've taken a lot of not-commercialized risks before. So, for us, information technology's about... we postulate to feel information technology, deep inside. The passion needs to live there, so it was very burning for us that it wasn't a movie adaptation."

Where previous Bond games have sported a digitized Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery, Io wants to create a wholly original "Bond for the gaming industry." EON, the current Shackle IP-holder, seems to agree with IO that this approach would ultimately make believe for a meliorate adjustment.

"At that place's always exhilaration around a inexperienced Bond. It's amazing, what they possess finished with the franchise over the long time. Every Bond kind of defines a generation and it's amazing how they kept reinventing themselves complete so many years. We're divine by the livelong affair, and just suck things into us to make an original Bond, an original story, just that is absolutely true and recognizable in the values thither is in Bond."

We'd want nothing little from the folks tail Hit man. Subsequently all, Agent 47 is the closest thing gaming currently has to its own Bond—albeit with a little less hair. In Torpedo 3, Andy K felt that similitude was more visible than ever. I don't doubt that the studio is perfectly situated to sum its voice to the lineup of actors and directors who've taken a stab at 007 over the eld.

But equally, I'm more than ready for IO's prospective trilogy to end with 007 pulling soured a wig to divulge a bald head sealed with a barcode.

Joining PC Gamer in 2020, she comes from leash years of freelance reporting at Rock Paper Shotgun, Waypoint, VG247 and more. Embedded in the European independent vista and having herself matured critically acclaimed small games like Can Androids Beg off, Nat is always looking for a new rarity to scream about—whether information technology's the next best indie darling, or only someone modding a Scotmid into Black Mesa. She's too played for a agonistic Splatoon team, and unofficially appears in Apex Legends under the anonym Horizon.
